Nashville Day 5 (Wednesday)

Wow. What a truly amazing evening we had tonight. Our students led the evening chapel service at the Nashville Rescue Mission. The Rescue Mission is the largest homeless shelter in Nashville and helps around 700 people (men, women, and children) daily. Tonight we were at the men’s shelter and there were ~300 men in attendance.

The presence of God was so evident tonight. There was an amazing outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the service. Our students weren’t singing to impress anyone (although they sounded great), but rather out of a heart of worship. There were a lot of men, arms raised, praising Jesus alongside of us. Everyone in the room was blessed by tonight, us included.

This is a group of students that desire to know Jesus and make him known. They are unashamed of their love for Jesus, and it’s a contagious thing. Parents, you’ve done a tremendous job of instilling in your teenagers a love for the Lord. They go boldly in to the world and make Jesus famous.

VBS Update: We started the week with 5 kids in VBS. Today we were up to 25 kids! God is bringing more kids each day. We wrap up our VBS tomorrow. God is at work: please keep praying!

Mission Projects Update: We have done a LOT of painting, cleaning, scraping, scrubbing, sorting, & packing this week all over the Nashville area. Our teenagers have worked really hard and kept a smile on their face the whole time. We’ll finish up tomorrow. There are several locations around the Nashville area that are more organized and visually appealing than before we got here. The students understand that as the body of Christ we have a great opportunity to meet physical needs and empower others to reach people with the Gospel. Every location that we’re working at is now better equipped to make a difference in the lives of others.

Here’s our highlight video from today:
