Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. (Romans 6:14 NLT)
Romans 6 can pretty much be summed up in this verse.
Because of what Jesus did for us, we are no longer tied down by our sin — we are free because of God’s grace. Think about it this way! When slavery was abolished after the Civil War, do you think any of the slaves just went back to their old master to become a slave again? Not a chance! It’s the same way with our sin! God has freed us from sin through Jesus! Not so that we feel a burden of rules and regulations, but so that we can live freely in his grace and obey him as a response to that grace. Remember that God’s grace is a gift and with it, we have a hope that should burn in us like a fire!
