This week on #tct we are going to dive in to something that affects many people. If you read this and realize it may apply to you, feel free to contact anyone here in the student ministry about it. Love y’all!
We are at crisis level Alpha here. I am talking the worst thing that could possibly happen is currently happening and oh my gosh what should I do. Let’s set it up:
First day of school. You break for lunch and somehow (of course) you pick the slowest line and all of your friends found the super speedy line. You did quickly say something to Grace about saving you a seat but when you get to the table: “Ah, I’m sorry there wasn’t any left…”
So, you leave to uncharted waters and go sit by yourself, feeling left out and not appreciated by your friends… Let’s try another example.
It’s the day of your big school play. The same play you’ve been rehearsing three nights a week for since February. You’re a little nervous because you haven’t done something like this in front of so many people before, but that’s okay because you’re parents are going to come see you! The play begins and they are nowhere in sight, but that’s okay because surely they are in the balcony.
Play ends and after scanning the crowd you see your mom, alone…”Where’s dad?”
“Oh, I’m sorry he said he couldn’t leave work in time for your performance tonight”
All that work and all that practice, and it leaves you feeling a little sad. A little abandoned.
These are little things, but abandonment is real and maybe it is affecting you. Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on why you feel sad sometimes or that nobody cares for you. Maybe your life is great and this doesn’t affect you at all, but I can tell you this: God will never abandon you, nor will He leave you or forsake you.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
“Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul. I cry to you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’” Psalms 142:4-5
God can do all things and He truly loves you for all that you are. He doesn’t leave you when you are messing up, sad or lonely. He takes all of those things and can wipe them clean. Don’t ever feel like you have no one, it’s just not true. Dive in to the scriptures, dive in to prayer, dive in to a Godly community, dive in to the Well (yeah that was cheesy).
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18
Let Him bring you assurance in your life. Let Him bring you peace.
