Something that stuck out to me in this passage was that Zechariah and Elizabeth had waited a very long time to have a baby. That was all they wanted. They prayed all the time for a baby. That had to take a lot of patience.

Often, we find ourselves wanting things right now. We want it when we think we are ready or when we think it is the right time. Most of the time, we don’t want to listen to God’s plan. We think we know what is best. We have to have faith in Him. He has a plan that ultimately turns out for the good. But that takes patience. Galatians 6:9 says “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” It is telling us not to give up.

Zechariah and Elizabeth did not give up. God finally came to them and said that they would have a son. That son would later become John the Baptist, a major role in God’s plan. So stay strong! God can use you! See what just a little bit of patience can do!
