The first question that comes to mind after reading this passage is: why in the world would Elizabeth want to hide her blessing instead of sharing it?! That question is what led me to start thinking about how we should respond when He does something amazing in our lives. Should we boast about the blessing immediately in a flashy manner on social media? Or later share what the Lord did in our lives when the time is right? For example, if you got a brand new truck on your birthday and posted it all over social media and bragged about what the Lord blessed you with, would the point of that be to bring Him glory or to bring attention to yourself? I’ve learned that while sharing awesome stories of how Christ has blessed us is a great thing to do, we have to be careful to keep the focus pointed on Him and not on ourselves!
Prayer: Lord, I admit that I have put Your Name on things that I intended to make me look better in order to get the approval of my peers. I was wrong. Please forgive me. Help me to know when to keep my mouth shut and when to open it in order to share stories that will lead others to You and make Your name famous. Thanks for bestowing showers of blessing on us daily. Keep us thankful and humble. AMEN!
