Day 7 | Ben Presley

In Luke 1:34-38, the angel comes to Mary informing her that she will be the mother of the Messiah. She is told that this will happen without a father. Mary begins to question how this is possible, her being a virgin. The angel simply responds, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” This is where we see the depth of Mary’s faith as her only answer is “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled”. Wouldn’t it be incredible if we could all learn to have this type of deep true faith that what God says and has in His will for us, is going to happen? Think about the ways that even just a glimpse of this type of faith could help each one of us in our daily walk of life.

As I was reading and praying over this devotion, my favorite verse was verse 37, which says “for no word from God will ever fail”. I began to think about the significance of that statement and the impact it should have on my own faith in God. As we near this time of Christmas and begin to celebrate the birth of Christ, it is always a good time to focus on the reason that God sent Jesus to earth and remember that the salvation He was sent to pay for us is only attained through faith in Christ.
